Six Month Review

Six month review. It only occurred yesterday, today marks the six-month point since starting this journey. Since we Brits love an anniversary, I thought I’d pen a few thoughts on the journey so far….

The Good

Just over 16 kilos (35 pounds) weight loss is not to be sniffed at. Thankfully, I feel I’ve got my mojo back and am very focused after a few wobbles.

I’m certainly feeling a million times better. I’m walking my freeloading friend with a swagger I’ve not possessed since my postman days. Huge strides and weight loss makes me feel fitter and better every day.

Writing this blog and having a weekly weigh day is helping me stay on track. Even during the bad period, I kept going and never gave up. This is a change for life, not a quick temporary fix.

I’ve taught myself how to run a blog, and I still have lots to learn and loads to do with the site, but chuffed I’ve grasped the basics! I never did thank this book for helping me finally get going after several false starts! So I am now!

If you’re considering setting up a website or blog, I cannot recommend this book enough!

The Bad

I can’t help feeling I should have lost more. No matter how much we lose, it never seems to be enough, we always want more. Too often, I swayed into old habits, completely losing the plot for over two months from February to April, where progression was hampered. Those old habits have continued to haunt but recently I’ve found light at the end of the tunnel by tweaking my approach.

I still drank way too much alcohol and got drunk too many times. Simply not drinking alcohol has sorted this out!

I wish I’d developed and promoted the site more but time restraints (stupid things like having a job!) have stopped me from doing this.

The Ugly

Honestly, there is not much to report on the ugly side of things. The hangovers were bad. I was still gorging at times and throwing up. These incidents have descended from a regular occurrence to very occasionally to non-existent. I must keep steering clear of silly drunken shenanigans as this always seems to set it off!

Conclusion

It’s been a rollercoaster ride. More ups than downs. Tricky periods, binge drinking and bad eating. I’m feeling lighter, fitter and better than I’ve done for years. Learning from mistakes and embracing the journey. Lots more to come as well, it’s very exciting and invigorating!

The Next Six Months!

That’ll do for me if I can shed a similar amount over the next six months. I know I’ve got to work a bit harder and stay fully focused. I’m sure I can do this! Keep my eye on the ball and never let myself slip. Onwards and forward to the next six-month review!
